I don't know that it matters. I mean noir has at base that we are all screwed. So USA, or North Korea, it doesn't matter. Unless an aspect of noir is that some of us are more screwed then others. (I could see this since it contributes to the sense of injustice.)

I mean, unless your Kim Jong Ill, if you live in NK your screwed in a very practical way. If you live in the US your screwed partly because of the delusion that your not screwed. (ala existensialism and the tendancy for humans to cling to traditional systems depsite evidence that they are not valid.)
