Perhaps what is meant is that logic and reasoning are functions of creatures with souls. God is able to perform logic and be rational, and we are made in His image, and God is decidedly supernatural. So logic and reasoning are not functions you would expect in animals as they do not have souls (at least in Christian circles) and are not touched with the supernatural light.

Just a thought.
