I read somewhere (I think some anthology from Mondo) that

cyberpunk.
************* I'm reading Vinge's DEEPNESS IN THE SKY now. It
doesn't strike me as hardboiled, but it's acquiring a noirish
cast. I think it's also a little right-leaning.
To me, NEUROMANCER is the cornerstone of cyberpunk,
displaying characteristics of both hardboiled and noir. I've
heard a lot of good things about SNOW CRASH, but I lost
interest and bailed out about half way through when they were
out on the flotilla. Dhalgren had too much ass-fucking and
not enough ass-kicking.
