**************** We're not even close, Kerry. First, I don't equate dying with being screwed. Neither do a lot of people I know. Second, I don't have to believe in the noir version of the world in order to enjoy reading it. Third, I hold firm to the idea that the noir world in no way implies that everybody is screwed. Far from it.

As far as self-help, I am cranking hard to learn Spanish right now. I'll have use for it a few times in the upcoming months. I'll be roaming the streets of Tijuana in less than a month.
