A wonderful story. It's Ray Bradbury's "All Summer in a
Day."

Sorry for the off-topic post, but I'll keep it
short, and I know the
rara-avians know all kinds of things. A friend
who teaches adult
literacy has asked me to identify a short story
for her. She read it
long ago and remembers little about it. She
classified it as science
fiction, and says it's about a planet where it
practically never
rains. A girl gets excited because it's about to
rain, but is
tormented by others for her excitement,
eventually ending up locked in
a closet (or something) and missing the whole
thing.
Ring any bells for anyone?
And speaking of hard-boiled sci-fi (which I
really wasn't, I know, but
work with me here), I recently picked up the two
Sam Space novels by
Nolan. Anyone ever read these? Are they worth my
time?
Thanks!
G.
