RARA-AVIS: Dublin Noir, edited by Ken Buen

Anyone know anything about this title? It's listed on Amazon as having been due September 1, but it also notes that it has not yet been published. So I looked up the publisher's website, but they do not list it at all. They do, however, list other City Noir books: Brooklyn Noir 1 & 2, Chicago Noir and San Francisco Noir, each with an interesting line-up of writers, some established crime writers, others less so. There's also an anthology of cocaine stories edted by Gary Phillips. The only two books I've read that were put out by Akashic are Jose Latour's Outcast and Arthur Nersesian's The Fuck-Up.

Anyway, their self-description from their website (www.akashicbooks.com) is:

"Akashic Books is a New York City-based independent company dedicated to publishing urban literary fiction and political nonfiction by authors who are either ignored by the mainstream, or who have no interest in working within the ever-consolidating ranks of the major corporate publishers."

I wonder if DC ex-pats might be involved, since all of the little bit of music they distribute is from bands whose roots are in DC. Plus they put out Dance of Days, the history of DC's HarDCore punk scene. Makes me wonder why they haven't put out a volume of DC Noir. Then again, wasn't George Pelecanos working on such an anthology? Maybe it's for them.
