Just a note to let you know that Lost Stories by Dashiell
Hammett is finally out. Otto Penzler reviewed Lost Stories in
today's New York Sun: http://www.nysun.com/article/19394
The trade hardcover edition is available at independent
mystery bookstores, traditional bookstores, and online
booksellers. There is also a slipcased collector's edition
available from my website.
If you want to pick up a copy at Bouchercon, look for the "M"
Is For Mystery tables. Ed Kaufmann has both the regular
edition and the collector's edition, and his regular copies
are all signed by Joe Gores and myself.
Northern Californians might like to know that Joe and I will
speak at the
"M" Is For Mystery store in San Mateo at 2 p.m. Saturday
Sept. 24. Joe is under the deadline gun to finish his novel
Glass Tiger, so he won't be making many personal appearances
over the next few weeks.
I will also publish another new book of interest, Discovering
The Maltese Falcon and Sam Spade, edited by Richard Layman.
The Falcon book has a Sept. 7 pub date.
I expect these 2 books to be the beginning of a series of
Hammett-related titles, which I have named The Ace Performer
Collection, after Raymond Chandler's remark that "Hammett was
the ace performer."
If any Avians have questions, I'll be glad to take a shot at
answers.
