The "White City" is also an acronym for the center around
which the 1893 Chicago World's Fair was built, as evidenced
by Erik Larsen's fabulous true crime book: THE DEVIL IN THE
WHITE CITY: MURDER, MAGIC, AND MADNESS AT THE FAIR THAT
CHANGED AMERICA. As if the waters weren't muddy enough
already!
