Jim: That is quite a list. There seem to be more on RA these
days who don't like Ellroy than do, but he's a favorite of
mine. Even though I love his books, however, I don't think
White Jazz would be enjoyable at all for someone not already
(and recently) read The Big Nowhere and L.A. Confidential.
It's a great read, but it doesn't stand alone. Or at least it
didn't for me.
