No, it was a short story about an American bomber pilot and a
British torpedo boat commander in World War One, in which
each one took a turn riding along on the other's mission. It
may have been called "Turnabout" It was made into a movie
with Gary Cooper as the American pilot, and I believe
Franchot Tone as the Brit torpedo boat commander. It was
definitely an "undefeated" story, and certainly "grace under
fire."
