RARA-AVIS: Harry Crews (was Re: Crider v. Lansdale)

Although I've been in Virginia the last 25 years, I'm a native of Georgia and that's where I first became a fan of Crews, who grew up in Bacon County, Georgia. I had a friend who lived in Enigma, Georgia and he tipped me to THE GOSPEL SINGER, which takes place in that tiny Georgia town. That novel, his autobiography and A FEAST OF SNAKES made me a big fan. Heck, as someone who grew up in rural Georgia, I recognize a lot of his characters--same with Lansdale.

with Crews a few years ago -- formed a sort of trilogy with documentaries of actors Warren Oates and Ben Johson. (He may have done another or two since then.)
