Hi, Kent, I forgot about The Hawk is Dying! I'm so excited to
hear that it will be a film this year. I certainly hope it
comes to the S. FL area. We are somehow cut off when it comes
to film culture. Yes, Blood and Grits is fabulous. And lets
not forget This Thing Don't Lead to Heaven. Might be one of
his rarest, however. His early hardbacks go for upwards of
$300 last time I looked, several years ago, and are hard to
find. I'm not sure how many are available in paperback. I
just sent Charlie Stella the Classic Crews that includes A
Childhood, Gypsy's Curse, and Car, but I don't think he's
read them yet. I also sent him Larry Brown's FAY, which he
went crazy over, and has reviewed on his website
charlieopera.com, if anyone is interested. Charlie and Anne
Marie hosted me for a weekend of fun when Cheapskates came
out. It's hard to believe anybody that nice, and soft on
dogs, can write so hard and mean! Charlie's website is always
fun because he keeps you up on people like Ken Bruen and
Jason Starr and how they all go out eating and drinking. His
new book Cheapskates is as tough as you can find. Vicki
