The Connelly and Ellroy point comes up here once in a while.
We are talking about less than 30 days difference between
publication dates, and only after those two authors were well
established in the US. Personally, I found it very annoying
to order books from the UK to attend a local (Toronto)
reading/signing. In any case, I think this has more to do
with internal publishing politics than whether the UK is more
likely than the US to discover an american author.
