I don't know of any particularly unique or interesting French
Quarter stores, but if you get a chance, you may want to
visit The Garden District Book Shop at a mall-like setup
called The Rink on Prytania in the, well, Garden District (
don't have the exact address on hand). The owner, Britton
Trice -- a very nice guy, by the way -- is responsible for
the pricey, special boxed and signed short run editions of
novels by Connelly, Crais, James Lee Burke and, I think,
Pelecanos. Lots of other signed firsts by locals like Anne
Rice. Plus of course, the New Orleans history, customs, etc.
books. And, combining a notice of my commercial connection
and BSP, I think Britton may still have a copy or two of my
private eye novel,"The Neon Smile," which has a little bit to
say about Marie Laveau.

Any rare birds know of a decent independent or used book
store in and around the French Quarter? I'll be there next
week for a conference and would love to explore. Looking for
more than just HB collections.
