RARA-AVIS: Re: Chandler on Atlee

Phillips discussed Chandler in Mike Nevins' interview with him published in the digest magazine "Espionage" and you accurately reflect those comments. As I recall, Chandler first called him one night after reading one of Phillips' stories in Colliers. Phillips had many stories in the slick magazines of the late 1940s and early 1950s. Nevins also interviewed Phillips'brother David Atlee Phillips, who was high up in the CIA prior to his retirement. David published a novel and a memoir after his retirement. There was some discussion of a collaboration between the brothers with a novel featuring Joe Gall and David's lead character but if written, it has not seen print.
