I did a little research a few weeks ago and came up with this site, which seemed to be the most credible and complete. It's very long--better not read it at work. There's a long essay by Trevanian himself and some tidbits by other people about him. Real name: Rodney Whitaker. Apparently while he was busy keeping his identity secret, someone else tried to take credit for his work.

I couldn't connect today--hope you can.
