Sorry, that's not the first incarnation of BLACK MASK either,
but a facsimile edition that collected bits and pieces that
Keith Deutsch could get a hand on, not all of which came from
BLACK MASK.
The original BM petered out in the early fifties and was
subsequently incorporated into EQMM for a while, although
that was mostly in the form of reprints (although I think a
few original stories, including a Dan Fortune tale by Michael
Collins IIRC, might have appeared under a "Black Mask"
subhead).
The 1974 facsimile edition was a real rara-avis. It was going
to revive BLACK MASK, but it only lasted one issue, I think.
Keith, who put it together and claims to own the rights to
everything connected to BLACK MASK that isn't nailed down,
used to be on this list and might still be. He can give you
the whole scoop.
Or just violate copyrights as far as BLACK MASK goes, and
chances are you'll be hearing from him. :-)
