I saw St Ives during its initial run. You're right, Bronson wasn't really right for the role. Jacqueline Bisset was quite hot in it, though. The movie wasn't very good. They emphasized the caper aspects of the story and it felt kind of like a made-for-TV movie of the period. However, I must have liked something about it, since it led me to read The Procane Chronicles, upon which it was based. And that led me to the rest of Thomas's books, first the other Bleeck books, then those under his own name, starting with Chinaman's Chance. After that, I went back to the beginning and read them in order.
