RARA-AVIS: Joseph Hansen/chapbooks/variosa

I posted the following on FictionMags, but there may be some material to interest this list as well:

The most recent story by Hansen I can find is "Home is the Place," EQMM, January 2000.

He had two short story volumes within the past 4 years:

BLOOD, SNOW, AND CLASSIC CARS. San Francisco: Leyland Publications, 2000. Published by Leyland Publications/Gay Sunshine Press, as a collection
"with gay themes," which the publisher claims have "never before
[appeared] in book form." But of the "five new stories," one was first collected in BRANDSTETTER & OTHERS, and 2 in BOHANNON'S COUNTRY. Of the 2 newly collected stories, the title story is detective, and
"Home is the Place" from EQMM earlier in 2000) features Bohannon.

BOHANNEN'S WOMEN. Waterville, ME: Five Star, 2002. Contains 6 stories, 5 featuring Bohannon. One ("Home Is the Place") previously appeared in BLOOD, SNOW AND CLASSIC CARS and "Home is the Place" appeared earlier in 2000 in EQMM; the others seem to be newly collected.

I wonder whether the following booklet is rare; I have no idea how many were printed:

ELECTION DAY, A DAVE BRANDSTETTER STORY. Woodstock: A Foul Play Press Book, The Countryman Press, 1984. Separately published pamphlet, described as "a free promotional excerpt from the forthcoming collection BRANDSTETTER & OTHERS, to be published in December, 1984." Surprisingly, the typesetting is not the same as that in the book.

Publishing a single story from a forthcoming short story volume always struck me as a good promotional gimmick. I know that one was done for John D. MacDonald's THE GOOD OLD STUFF and one for Basil Copper's THE SECRET FILES OF SOLAR PONS. I can send details if anyone is interested.

Were there others in the detective/mystery fields?

Crippen & Landru has never done that for publicity, though we do publish a pamphlet (sort-of "first book edition") of a single short story for each Malice Domestic Convention (and we did so for one Bouchercon), and each Christmas/Hanukkah/&c we issue a newly commissioned story in what we describe hyperbolically as a "deluxe limited edition." These go to our Subscribers.

If can send details on any of the above if you are curious.
