I've been wondering about the influence of Spillane. He sold
a huge numer of books, but did he really have much lasting
influence? Off the top of my head, I can think of very few
recent PI writers he's influenced -- Vachss, maybe Max Allan
Collins, at least in Ms Tree. Maybe his biggest influence was
on the Executioner type series? Am I missing a branch of
Spillane's heirs?
