Good move. I encountered Sallis with the first book in
this series, then read each as it was published. So I've been
meaning to re-read the series, one after the other, with no
gaps of time between, to get a better sense of his intentions
with this series of books. I'm sure that once I do so, my
appreciation of his achievement will go up even more.
