I can't speak to BLACK ECHO other than I generally feel safe
recommending Connelly sight unseen based on what I have
read.
FAREWELL, MY LOVELY, otoh, is my favorite Chandler novel. As
I've said before, I think THE BIG SLEEP is a better book, but
I enjoyed FAREWELL, MY LOVELY more. David White once called
it "the happy Marlowe book," since he's at his smart-ass best
in this one. I listed it in CRIME SPREE as one of my Top 10
novels read in 2004.
(#1 was GATSBY, which I think got chopped off when I emailed
that in.)
