I don't think it was Spillane's religion that changed his
style. He just lost the rawness of his early days as he's
gotten older. Happens to the best of us, I guess, but it's
particularly noticeable with him. And I hate to say this, too
- he's been a favorite since I was in high school - but I
can't honestly get excited about much of his work post-"The
Snake." I recently re-read "The Delta Factor", one that I
always considered his best, but it didn't hold up as well
