Neddal,
The Guards is very good. Bruen's protagonist, Jack Taylor,
reminds me a bit of Mathew Scudder during his drinking days,
but what makes this book is the writing. Bruen's style seems
so damn effortless - it borders on brilliant. In this one
Taylor investigates the apparant suicide of a young girl, but
this is mostly incidental. The actual story is more of a
personal nature. Well-worth reading, and should get you
hooked on Bruen.
