I pulled out my copy of THE BLACK DAHLIA to see if we could
compare a short section, in English and Finnish, but it's got
a fairly normal style and, as translations go, I suppose it's
no harder than mosts. The later, tighter, blunter, more
edited and freaked-out style would be interesting to compare
in translation, though. Anyone have THE COLD SIX THOUSAND in
another language, or one of our Italian rare birds have the
new book in Italian?
I open the
mail. Dig: new Ellroy. Dig: new gig. Dig: "Turn
this into
Russian but keep the style and tone the same."
I read the
book. I freak. No way. Can't be done.
I check my
bank balance. I check my fridge. Both empty.
I'll do
it.
CRAAAZY.
