I just got back from a Q&A and signing by George
Pelecanos in the new downtown Silver Spring, Maryland (not
much like the Silver Spring near where Nick Stefanos lived),
just over the state line from DC. He seemed to get more
questions about The Wire than his books. He had interesting
things to say about the difference between writing novels and
TV scripts. When someone asked about books he liked, he
recommended Edward Jones's Known World and Jonathan Lethem's
Fortress of Solitude. And he said his next book, due next
March, is Drama City, a standalone about a Human Society
officer.
