Edwin Thomas's THE BLIGHTED CLIFFS, kind of a historical adventure novel (the protagonist is a more lighthearted Horatio Hornblower) was commended the year that Edward Wright won (2001 I guess) and that book, and a sequel, have been published by Bantam Transworld. Thomas also has another historical series under the pseudonym of Tom Harper, published by Century.

And congrats to Jim from me as well.
