The MS isn't even completed yet! The Debut Dagger is a
comparatively new category for unpublished novels by
unpublished novelists. You submit the first 3000 words and a
500 word synopsis. There's no guarantee that winning the
award will get you published.
However, every single winner HAS been subsequently published
and so have most of those who've made the shortlist, so just
getting nominated increases the odds in my favor
tremendously.
Our own Al Guthrie's first book, TWO-WAY SPLIT, was a Debut
Dagger nominee, and, as he put it, getting that nomination
"opened a lot of doors."
