Comments on this list about the Hard Case Crime imprint made
me curious, so I looked at the hardcasecrime.com website and
was happy to find that a David Dodge novel, PLUNDER OF THE
SUN, is one of the books to be published in the series.
Dodge definitely deserves some attention. I've read 3 of his
books from the 1940s and 50s, THE LONG ESCAPE (featuring the
same PI character as PLUNDER OF THE SUN), RANSOM OF THE ANGEL
(about gangsters hijacking a boat) and SHEAR THE BLACK SHEEP
(main character is an accountant who acts like a PI). All
have been entertaining, well-written thrillers. Dodge tends
to specialise in exotic settings, adding some scenic appeal
to the books.
