Mr Denton mentions:

> Charlie Salter series by Eric Wright.

I'll add, in the maybe-not-full-on-hardboiled category, the Ellis Portal series by Rosemary Aubert. The down-and-out Portal gives a nice tour of Toronto from the perspective of the homeless and disenfranchised.

Bookstores:

Jamie has a fair selection of hardcover firsts as well, at market prices (not a place for finding scores in HC, although I've found some great deals on mis-priced hard-to-find paperbacks). Jamie has a huge turnover on the good stuff, so frequent trips are often necessary.

For HC firsts, Contact Editions at 759 Mount Pleasant is Toronto's premier book store for collectors. Again, market prices, so not for the
  budget-constrained.

If you're in the neighbourhood of Yonge&Wellesley, Eliot books (584 Yonge) has a very good used mystery section. I always stop in when I'm down there. You won't find too many rarities, but it has a very full selection of the mainstream, at good prices.
