I'll add, in the maybe-not-full-on-hardboiled category, the
Ellis Portal series by Rosemary Aubert. The down-and-out
Portal gives a nice tour of Toronto from the perspective of
the homeless and disenfranchised.

If you're in the neighbourhood of
Yonge&Wellesley, Eliot books (584 Yonge) has a very good
used mystery section. I always stop in when I'm down there.
You won't find too many rarities, but it has a very full
selection of the mainstream, at good prices.
