Actually, there have been four other Ripley films aside from the Matt Damon version of THE TALENTED MR. RIPLEY. The first film version of TMR was 1961's PURPLE NOON, starring Alain Delon as Ripley. It won an Edgar in the now-defunct category of Best Mystery Screenplay for a Foreign Film.

Hopper played Ripley in the first film version of RIPLEY'S GAME, released in 1977 as THE AMERICAN FRIEND. John Malkovich's 2002 version restored the original title.

Barry Pepper is slated to star as Ripley in a version of RIPLEY UNDERGROUND to be released later this year as WHITE ON WHITE.
