Several of the early Donald Hamilton novels take place in or around Sante Fe including the first Matt Helm DEATH OF A CITIZEN and his excellent non-series novel most commonly seen with the second, rather bad title of ASSASINS HAVE STARRY EYES.

Also, what about Jim Thompson? He is from the region and several of his novels are among the best ever to feature the Southwest.
