************* I'm about half way through Fiedler's book. When I first caught his drift, which he presents with no hesitation in the first few pages, I was just about skeptical enough to bail out on it. I stuck with it and his argument concerning the strong homosexual theme in the foundation of the American novel is fairly convincing. I do, however, disagree with him on its degree of significance.
