Jim, please receive my best wishes for your wife's health. I always thought that Gil Brewer's _13 French Street_ would make a great noir film.

Another good candidate is Gault's _Death Out of Focus_
(this lends itself to a visual, supernatural treatment).

And every story I've read by Davis Grubb is ready-made for a film noir treatment.

Just some suggestions.
