The Man Booker is roughly analogous in the UK to the National
Book Award in the US.
Everything about DBC Pierre and his novel seem pretty
adorable; I may get to it. Thanks for the tip.
-----Original Message----- From: Michael Robison It's sort of
a Holden-Caulfield-at-Columbine-High novel, about a cynical
high school boy taking heat for a high school massacre. It's
funny, not necessarily
"scabrously" so, as the front cover blurb states. It's heavy
into satire, which I can pretty much take or leave nowadays.
My feeling is that satirizing society is about as hard as
shooting fish in a barrel.
Nevertheless it was still cute.
The book got some kind of strange award that I've never heard
of called the Man Booker Prize for 2003.
