I think you might be recalling the FIRESIGN THEATRE's skit "Nick Danger, Third Eye." It's a spoof of all the old radio PI shows. Begins something like this:

ANNOUNCER: Out of the fog! Into the smog! Coldy! Ruthlessly!

NICK: I wonder where Ruth is?

ANNOUNCER: Nick Danger rounds the corner and turns into a building!

NICK: Ouch! My nose!
