RARA-AVIS: I AM LEGEND

I have not read this one in thirty years, but it is a book that comes back to me in toto whenever I hear the title.

As for attention being brought to the book by the films--Well, I saw the Charleton Heston film not long after I read the book, and it was a terrible disappointment.

What stuck with me while reading the book was the feeling of dread of "What is this guy going to do to get out of it."

Scary. And the conclusion--although blown by one of the posts here--is one of the most satisfying conclusions I can remember to any novel.

This was one of those books that I don't think you can bring to the screen. Too many people know the ending, and if you know it ahead of time, it is not nearly as scary nor is it as significant.
