See if you can find his science-fictional short fiction, as well. I remember
"Exigency and Martin Heidegger" from 25 years ago, and I think I recall reading/hearing later that its initial appearance in AMAZING SCIENCE FICTION was inadvertently scrambled a bit...

I think his Lew Griffin books are - besides being crime fiction in the upper class - philosophical and political explorations of the mind. At least my mind.
