Interesting thread. The author who immediately came to mind for me was James Lee Burke, who has been particularly guilty of writing the same book now for the last 5 or 6 books he's released. I remember vague feelings of "haven't I read this before," with some of Burke's books. It wasn't until I read his book _Heartwood_, the second Billy Bob Holland book, and then almost immediately after read _The Lost Get-Back Boogie_, one of his earliest books, and something of a template for the Dave Robicheaux series, that I realized I was on to something: these two books are virtually identical. Yet I keep on reading Burke and await each new book eagerly.
