Must have been quite an undertaking. I attended the presentation by Hammett's daughter and granddaughter at B'con in DC two years ago, and recall hearing there that the copyrights for Hammett's work were all bound up by some multinational congomerate. I'd be interested in hearing how you managed to shake them loose, since we have been interested at Back Alley Books in releasing a set of Back Alley Classics from the twenties, thirties, and forties. So far, we've had to focus on works in the public domain, which limits us largely to anything pubbed before 1923.

Looking forward to this anthology! R

Richard Helms WET DEBT (0-8710159-3-7) the fourth book in the Pat Gallegher Mystery Series from Back Alley Books!
