Bill, as a fellow Hammett fan, you asked exactly the question
I would if I were in your gumshoes. Unfortunately, my
distributor wants me to play coy about the exact contents of
Lost Stories until the press release goes out to announce it.
That should happen in March.
In the meantime, I can say the book will include 21 stories,
all of which have never appeared in a book or have been out
of print for decades, and that they span Hammett's writing
career from the first short story he ever wrote (which was
not the first story he had published) to his last. Joe Gores
has written an introduction. Aficionados will be glad to hear
that Lost Stories will provide background for each story and
29 illustrations and photos, most of which have not been
available before.
I hope this appetizer tides you over until March.
Thanks.
