RARA-AVIS: Ross Macdonald and Michael Collins

All the talk about Dennis "Michael Collins" Lynds's Dan Fortune novels suddenly got me thinking, did anyone suggest Collins as a possible Macdonald subsitute during the recent "Catching Up" thread?

Collins has always struck me as having a Macdonald-like style, and, since Fortune moved out of NYC and into Santa Barbara, he even operates in Macdonald country now.

P.S.

Katy and I went back to the Bay Area to celebrate my folks' anniversary. Some of you Rare Birds may recall that, a few months ago, when Mom was facing a particularly difficult surgery, it looked like the odds were against her being here to celebrate her and Dad's special day. That she was not only here, but looking ten years younger, was, I firmly believe, a testament to the prayers and good thoughts offered by members of this list.

I just thought I ought to take the opportunity to thank you all once more.
