OK, Richard. I'll vouch for you.
For two Bouchercons in a row, master storytellers Moore and
Lansdale squared off in hotel rooms to see who could tell the
wildest, funniest, tallest tale. These are guys who are
gifted with purest form of the storytelling gene. Trust me.
There was one woman in the room whom I thought was literally
going to die of laughter before it was over. Richard's tales
of his various uncles are hard to equal, but Lansdale was up
to the task with his imitation of a very angry pig that, for
reasons too complex to go into here, was chasing him and a
friend. And then there was that woodpecker. At any rate, I'd
declare the contests a draw both times. It was a rare
privilege to be there and hear two real liars, er,
storytellers give it their all.
