I was lucky enough to get to do a one-on-one interview with
Ross Thomas at the Minneapolis Bouchercon around 1987 when he
was guest of honor. I also got to hang around with him a
little during the day of the interview, but I didn't join in
the poker game that night. Thomas was part of a regular
poker-playing crowd at Bouchercon in those days, and I'd have
enjoyed watching him work. I, however, am the world's worst
poker player in more ways than one. I don't allow myself
around a game. But I digress. Thomas was a right g, as you'd
probably expect. Smart, funny, and a damned fine
writer.
