Or, rather than westerns, how about an exploration of the
overlapping territory between hb/noir and science-fiction?
This could either include authors who wrote both (Fredric
Brown, JDM, Richard Matheson, Harlan Ellison, Leigh Brackett)
or SF works which steph into noir/h.b. territory (Alfred
Bester's "The Demolished Man," which could be seen as a
procedural, K.W. Jeter's "Noir" ...)

We haven't done any regional theme months for awhile. Since
there are several Southwestern writers and fans on the list,
since it has often been suggested that hard-boiled mysteries
are a direct descendant of the western genre, and since there
are a growing number of hard-boiled mysteries set in places
like Texas, Arizona, Utah, New Mexico, etc., how about a
month devoted to Hard-Boiled Crime in the Southwest?
