Mario Taboada started it: What else is open and waiting for the gods to smile?

******** Hahaha. Now that's a great topic. I've got PETER'S PENCE by an Australian I can't name. It's a good book, but there are some thrillers that don't uh... thrill me? But I'm enjoying it, just a little at a time.

Here's a good one. I have 5 pages left in Dos Passos's 42ND PARALLEL. Is that the right name? It's been waiting for months for me to finish. There were good characters in it and some interesting stories. Too many of both. Passos's writing style turned me away. Weird compounding of words, long, long sentences strung together with a bunch of conjunctions.

Oh! Oh! I checked out all the pictures in Wilson's Highsmith biography when I was at Borders bookstore over the weekend. Damn! She had a fine set of hooters at age 21!
