RARA-AVIS: One Mr. Willeford's points of irony/humor

In one of the novels, I can't remember which though probably a Hoke title, he mentions a strip mall is being the former headquarters of _Alfred Hitchcock Mystery Magazine_.

Does anyone recall the scene, and might this be one of Mr. Willeford's points of humor? I wasn't sure at the time I read it but can now see it that way.
