Thanks for the info. Like the author of the quote, I also
found ties to Naked Lunch in Cooper, particularly in the way
it linked violence and homosexual sex. A long time ago, I
started Genet's Our Lady of the Flowers a couple of times,
but never got very far. I should probably try it again.
I always found Gary Indiana's columns in places like
Interview (and Art Forum, I think) a bit glib. Do his novels
show more depth?
As for "is it a true crime book or a novel," I'm about to,
finally, read Executioner's Song (inspired by, of all things,
Matthew Barney's arty-farty film Cremaster 2). I figure that
ought to keep my lips moving for a long, long time.
