What was left out of the Derringer announcement was the
publication sources for the Short-Short stories (up to 1500)
words. I was thrilled to see two stories from Hardluck
Stories Zine premiere issue make it: "A Cut Above" by Del
Tinsley and "Jumping the Fence" by Stephen Rogers. Both good
stories and I hope people on this list check them out and the
other stories on the zine (and while you're at it check out
Al Guthrie's tough noirish story "I'm No Killer" in the
Winter issue).

btw. The Spring 2003 issue of Hardluck Stories Zine is now
on-line and has six new hard-edged crime stories along with
interviews with Charlie Shafer (the Guest Editor for this
issue), Ed Gorman, Mystery Publisher Hilliard and Harris, a
review of T. Jefferson Parker's Cold Pursuit, and a nifty
article by Charlie titled Hard-boiled-Soft-boiled. Hardluck
Stories Zine can be found at: http://www.hardluckstories.com/zine.htm
