Richard Stark's SLAYGROUND. Parker is on the lam after a
heist, chased by cops, the car crashes, and he hops the fence
to hide in a closed-down fairgrounds. He spends the whole
book there, hunted by gangsters.
He goes back in a later book, but I can't remember which
one.
